Electrode Pads
How Does TENS Therapy Work?
Are you new to TENS therapy? This is a unique form of massage that uses electrical impulses to help block pain. In some cases, it can also produce endorphins, which act as natural painkillers, for an even greater level of relief. While they may look a little complicated at first glance, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) devices are actually a lot easier to use than you may think.
Here's how it works:
Place electrode pads on the body to help relieve pain and soreness. Wires connect the pads to the TENS unit. Select from different pulse functions on the handheld TENS unit and adjust the speed and intensity as needed. Feel relief as the electrical impulses are sent through the wires to each of the electrode pads, helping to reduce or eliminate of the flow of painful sensations. Remove the electrode pads once your electronic pulse massage session is complete. Store the pads so they can be reused for a future session.
Having the right TENS unit pads to use with your TENS device is essential to getting the optimal level of pain relief. A low-quality pad will not be able to effectively transfer the electrical impulses that are being sent from the device, so you won't feel as much relief from aches and pains. In addition, a low-quality adhesive could be painful to remove from the skin or unable to be reused for more than one session.
At truMedic®, our electrode pads for TENS therapy are designed to deliver the best results. They are designed with high-quality materials and assist with efficient, effective treatment. These pads gently adhere to the skin, so they're comfortable to wear and easy to remove. The latex-free adhesive offers maximum reusability as well.
How to Apply TENS Unit Pads
To get the most pain relief during TENS therapy, make sure you apply the electrode pads correctly each time. The first step is cleaning the skin where you want to apply the pads. You can use soap and water or a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol.
The electrode pads can be applied in just about any location where you're feeling pain, such as the back or the knees. Be sure to check out the complete lineup of electrode pad products at truMedic® to find different pad sizes and shapes to accommodate each area.
After each use, replace the TENS unit pads onto plastic film with the adhesive side down. Store them in a cool, dry place until you're ready to use them again.
